the story of cari-mari
A life lived in motion.
A heart tuned to beauty.
A world built in balance.
I have always been a wanderer —
a soul who follows the shimmer of feeling.
Textures, colours, stories, landscapes, people, moments…
they speak to me long before words arrive.
I grew up in South Africa, shaped by wide skies, red earth, ocean salt, and the quiet wisdom of nature.
Every coastline, mountain, and stretch of veld taught me something about rhythm, about balance, about the way beauty lives in both the wild and the gentle.
From an early age, I learned to trust two things:
my instinct, and my curiosity.
Both have carried me across continents — through markets, mountains, deserts, seaside villages, and hidden ateliers — each place gifting me another thread to weave into my world.
a life of balance, beauty & movement
My philosophy is simple:
life is meant to be lived in balance.
Adventure and stillness.
Luxury and simplicity.
Play and purpose.
Joy and depth.
Creation and rest.
To me, balance is a way of moving in the world —
a daily choosing
a gentle tuning
a returning to centre.
It is this balance that guides every decision behind
cari-mari.
the textures of a wandering life
the objects we surround ourselves with matter
After years of travel — and after the profound experience of handling my father’s estate — I became intensely aware of how much “stuff” fills our lives.
Objects without meaning.
Things bought without intention.
Pieces that outlive us but never touched us.
I realised something:
we don’t need more.
we need better.
Better stories.
Better quality.
Better energy.
Better connection.
Objects should serve your spirit, your space, your daily rituals.
They should uplift you, comfort you, awaken you —
and yes, spark joy and play.
When chosen with intention, a single piece can shift the feeling of a room.
It can hold memory.
It can hum with the hands that shaped it.
It can become part of your life, not just your décor.
how cari-mari chooses
guided by the triad — touch, story, and material — every piece found here is selected with careful instinct:
the maker’s hand
the place it was born
the way it carries story
the quality of craft
the subtle frequency it gives off
the way it changes a room
the way it changes you
From desert-worn textiles
to hand-thrown vessels,
from jewellery shaped by ancient methods
to functional art forged in quiet mountain studios —
each object is chosen to be lived with, not simply looked at.
a sanctuary for wonder
I created cari-mari as a space for those who feel the world deeply —
for those who see beauty in both the obvious and the obscure,
for those who still feel the spark of their inner child,
for those who crave soul in the everyday.
This is a gallery of feeling,
a home for craftsmanship,
a place where earth, art, design, play, humour, movement, and memory coexist.
Every object is an invitation:
to pause,
to feel,
to remember,
to reconnect with what makes you come alive.
objects that hold the hush of home
the journey continues
This is only the beginning.
I dream of cari-mari growing into a global space —
a living archive of crafted beauty,
a movement toward conscious, balanced living,
a celebration of the artists, makers, dreamers, healers, and wild spirits I meet along the way.
In time, the cari-mari Foundation will support nature conservation and uplift artists whose work deserves to be held, honoured, and shared.
And soon, I’ll open a corner of this space where I’ll share my favourite places, healers, restaurants, music, and hidden-world discoveries — inspirations gathered from years of wandering.
Because beauty isn’t just something you buy.
It’s something you live.
this is cari-mari
A story woven through continents.
A life rooted in balance.
A brand shaped by soul, style, curiosity, and crafted wonder.
A reminder
that beauty is nourishment,
that objects carry memory,
that play is sacred,
and that we create our world
piece by piece,
moment by moment,
feeling by feeling.
Welcome to the space.
Make yourself at home.
Let your senses wander.
